The ADN party is seeking clarification from the Funchal City Council regarding the control of fire hydrants on Rua do Sabão, following a fire that broke out last Friday.
Maíza Fernandes of ADN pointed out that public information suggested a possible unavailability of fire hydrants in the area, a situation the party deems necessary to investigate. ADN highlighted that the fire necessitated the precautionary evacuation of nearby buildings due to smoke and flames, with subsequent re-ignitions requiring further firefighter intervention.
The party emphasized that these events do not indicate any failure of the hydrants or question the firefighters' actions, but rather demonstrate the potential scale of an emergency in that urban zone. ADN has requested the release of information such as the date of the last check, pressure and flow records, detected faults, and maintenance interventions to clarify the situation and ensure firefighters can rely on these resources during emergencies.
