The ADN Madeira party, through veterinarian Carolina Martins, has expressed concern "regarding the growing bureaucratic burden that continues to be placed on those who produce, cultivate, raise animals, and keep small-scale agriculture alive".
The party views the obligation to declare laying hen stocks as "another example of a reality that deserves reflection," questioning the extent of state administrative intervention in small-scale production and domestic animal keeping.
While acknowledging the need for rules concerning animal health and food safety, ADN Madeira questions whether it is reasonable to apply the same bureaucratic logic used for professional farms to small producers or those who raise chickens for personal consumption, advocating for oversight focused on risk and fraud prevention, rather than turning every small rural activity into an extension of public administration.
