ADN Madeira has requested detailed information from the Regional Government regarding the support scheme for the renewal of the black scabbard fish fleet, which has an allocation of five million euros. The party raises questions after the 2025 PIDDAR execution report indicated no financial execution for the project that year.
The party seeks to know the number of applications submitted and approved, the support amounts already paid, and how many vessels have actually been renewed. ADN Madeira considers it essential to present a concrete timeline to unlock these investments, especially given the current difficulties in fishing activities.
Recent data shows a 25.2% decrease in black scabbard fish catches and a 33.2% drop in first sale value in the first half of 2026, compared to the same period last year. ADN also advocates for the disclosure of an updated diagnosis on the safety and habitability conditions of the vessels, along with information on the financial execution of the support.
