Madeira's Regional Government President, Miguel Albuquerque, met on 4 November with the heads of the executives of the EU's outermost regions (RUP) and their MEPs. The meeting opened the 30th Conference of RUP Presidents, held in Guadeloupe.
The talks covered the regions' priorities, including their interests in the next Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028-2034, as well as the European Commission's strategy for the outermost regions and the related regulatory package.
On 5 November, Albuquerque joins the RUP presidents in a session to deepen these priorities. At midday he takes over the rotating presidency of the Conference for one year and presents his objectives for the term.
