Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM) is investing approximately 13.5 million euros in the rehabilitation and modernization of Porto Santo's water supply network. The project, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), aims to enhance the island's water sustainability and improve service quality for the population.
This undertaking, which began in February 2025, includes renewing about 25.2 kilometers of pipes, replacing degraded sections, and modernizing equipment. The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, visited one of the work sites and emphasized the strategic importance of the intervention for the island's future.
Maciel highlighted that the work is essential for reducing water losses, minimizing pipe bursts, and ensuring a more efficient and secure system. The Regional Secretary thanked the public for their understanding regarding the disruptions, deeming them unavoidable due to the project's scope and deadlines.
