Madeira Cement Sales Decline in Volume but Increase in Value

Cement sales in the Autonomous Region of Madeira between April and June 2026 decreased by 2.7% compared to the same period last year, totaling 41.7 thousand tons. However, the monetary value of sales reached 6.9 million euros, a 5.4% year-on-year increase.

Despite the drop in volume, sales in the second quarter of 2026 represented a 5.1% increase compared to the previous quarter. However, the Regional Statistics Directorate of Madeira (DREM) highlights that the cost of the raw material has risen, making construction projects more expensive.

In the accumulated first six months of 2026, the quantity of cement traded recorded a 1.0% decrease, while the sales value increased by 6.6%, confirming a price appreciation of the product despite the reduction in traded volume.
