The Association of Union Professionals of the Police (ASPP/PSP) will hold a rally in Funchal, at Largo do Município, on October 14. The protest aims to demand salary appreciation and an increase in police personnel.
According to ASPP president Paulo Santos, these demonstrations intend to involve not only police officers but also local authorities and the public, addressing complaints about the lack of community policing. The struggle is seen as a matter of public safety and investment in the institution.
The ASPP opposed a salary supplement proposal presented by the Minister of Internal Administration, deeming it insufficient and advocating for a broader restructuring of supplements. Similar protests are planned in seven other cities across the country.
