Madeira now boasts two certified companies offering stargazing experiences at sea, a new tourism product that combines nighttime sailing with astronomy, maritime history, and celestial navigation.
The initiative was announced in Funchal during the presentation of the European "Twinned by Stars" project results. Five Madeiran companies participated in specialized training, with two now certified and ready to offer the experience commercially. Three more companies are expected to complete their certification later.
These nighttime excursions will guide visitors in identifying major constellations and understanding how sailors navigated by the stars. The offshore location benefits from lower light pollution, providing ideal conditions for observing the night sky.
