Quinta do Serrado Owner Jokingly Suggests Madeira's Beauty Should Be Taxed

During the inauguration ceremony of Quinta do Serrado in Câmara de Lobos, owner Ireneusz Migas made a humorous remark, suggesting that Madeira's beauty should be taxed. His comment drew laughter from the audience, which included the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, and the Mayor.

Migas, who first visited Madeira as a tourist about ten years ago, explained that it was the island's beauty that inspired him to return and invest in the quinta's restoration. He described the stunning landscapes, ocean, gastronomy, climate, colours, and flowers as "extraordinary."

The investor also shared his vision for Quinta do Serrado, which he found with old buildings and a large banana plantation. Migas chose to remove the banana trees to restore the property's historic vineyard, aiming to bring life back to the space and respect its winemaking tradition. He hopes the quinta will become a landmark, showcasing Madeira's natural beauty, culture, history, and wine tradition to visitors worldwide.
