The auxiliary bishop of Caracas, Monsignor Luis Manuel Romero, has expressed his wish to bring the name of Machico and the island of Madeira to Venezuela.
This intention was communicated during a visit to the parish of Machico, where the bishop showed interest in strengthening ties between the Madeiran community in Venezuela and their homeland.
The goal is for Madeiran culture and identity to be better known and valued by the diaspora and local communities in Venezuela.
