Câmara de Lobos to Install 50 New Bus Shelters to Improve Mobility

The municipality of Câmara de Lobos has announced the installation of 50 new bus shelters throughout the council area during the current term. This initiative is part of a broader mobility strategy designed to improve accessibility, encourage the use of public transport, and regulate vehicle traffic in urban centers.

Vice-president of the Municipal Council, Dany Freitas, made the announcement during a participatory session on the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. The strategy aims not to ban cars from urban centers, but to promote a more rational and organized use of public space, with a particular focus on the parishes of Câmara de Lobos and Estreito de Câmara de Lobos.

The plan also includes creating accessible corridors for individuals with reduced mobility and families with strollers, as well as urban requalification of squares in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos and Baía de Câmara de Lobos to ensure more inclusive and functional spaces. The goal is to foster a balanced mobility model that integrates private vehicles with improved conditions for public transport and pedestrian circulation.
