TVDE (Transporte Individual e Remunerado de Passageiros) drivers in Madeira are organizing a "peaceful car procession" through the streets of Funchal next Saturday at 5:00 PM.
The initiative, promoted by a "civic movement of TVDE candidates and drivers of Madeira," aims to mark one year of "administrative blockade on the issuance of new licenses in the Region."
The car parade will proceed at a reduced speed, between 25 to 30 km/h, passing by institutions related to the sector, such as IMT, the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, and the Regional Government Presidency. The convoy will depart from the upper area of Santo António and will make a stop at Praça CR7, where a "satirical cake" is planned to "celebrate the anniversary of the blockade" and discuss its "social and family impact."
The organizers describe the blockade as "illegal" and hope the action will draw attention to the situation.
