The sea rescue organization Sanas has denounced an act of negligence by a swimmer who, yesterday afternoon near the São Jorge swimming pools, risked their life in the sea.
The incident occurred off the coast of São Jorge. The Sanas Porto Moniz rescue team was alerted, and while a shore team provided instructions, a vessel was dispatched for the rescue.
The swimmer was safely recovered without injury, but Sanas president Frederico Rezende highlighted the danger and praised the coordination of Civil Protection and the dedication of the rescue crew.
