SANAS-Madeira expressed dissatisfaction in a statement regarding the recklessness of a swimmer who ventured into the North Sea, endangering their life and the lives of the rescue teams.
The incident occurred yesterday at 6:36 PM when the Porto Moniz Lifeguard Station received information about a person in distress near the São Jorge swimming pools. The team acted swiftly, launching the Lifeguard Vessel, the only one on the North Coast.
The victim was rescued without injuries or signs of hypothermia and evacuated at the Porto Moniz Quay, thanks to the coordination of Civil Protection and the commitment of SANAS operators.
