The CDS/PP Madeira Regional Council has positively evaluated the first year of the current legislature, stating that its participation in the Regional Government was crucial for political stability and the implementation of economic and social growth measures.
The party highlighted its influence in reducing taxes, increasing incomes, and improving quality of life, citing the regional minimum wage set at 980 euros, reductions in IRS and IRC, and a decrease in VAT on essential goods. The CDS also mentioned the commitment to negotiate an insularity bonus for private and social sector workers, the creation of a reference salary for young graduates, and increased support for micro and small businesses.
In infrastructure, the party emphasized investments exceeding 30 million euros in the Caniçal and Funchal ports, and in health, the hiring of 70 nurses and enhanced home care. Despite the favorable assessment, the CDS identifies future priorities including increased construction of affordable housing and greater investment in care homes and assisted living facilities, also advocating for wage growth above inflation.
