Rubina Leal Honors Madeiran Diaspora in Toronto as a Global Network of Skills

The President of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Rubina Leal, honored the pioneers of Madeiran emigration in Canada, in Toronto. At the Pioneers' Gallery, Leal emphasized that Madeirans scattered around the world represent a global network of skills, experience, and influence, a strategic asset for the Region's international affirmation.

Leal advocated for a new paradigm in relations with Madeiran communities, proposing the mobilization of the diaspora as a network of talent, knowledge, investment, and international influence, a partner in Madeira's internationalization. The president evoked the courage and determination of emigrants from the 1950s and 1960s, who contributed to Canada's development and laid the foundation for a strong and integrated community, preserving Madeiran identity.
