The CHEGA parliamentary group in the Assembly of the Republic has introduced a draft resolution aimed at strengthening measures to combat discrimination against consumers in the Autonomous Regions within e-commerce.
This initiative, coordinated by deputies Francisco Gomes and Ana Martins, follows persistent complaints from consumers in Madeira and the Azores who are denied certain products or face less favorable conditions when shopping online due to their residency.
The proposal highlights that despite existing legislation, refusals to sell, delivery limitations, and exclusion from promotions continue, treating residents of the autonomous regions as "second-class consumers." CHEGA advocates for increased oversight, investigation, and sanctions to ensure legal compliance and equal access in digital commerce.
