The CDU has accused the Funchal Municipal Council of not fulfilling its promise to build a road in the Ladeiras area, in the parish of São Gonçalo. The party considers that the residents were victims of an "electoral fraud" by the PSD.
Duarte Martins, CDU spokesperson, recalled that during the municipal election campaign, the PSD guaranteed the viability and speed of the project. However, several months later, "there is no work, no prospect of commencement, and no budget allocation," accusing the executive of forgetting the commitment.
According to the CDU, the absence of the road continues to create significant difficulties for residents, who transport essential goods via staircases and face accessibility issues for vehicles and public transport, particularly affecting the elderly. Martins criticized the PSD for announcing projects during election periods that are subsequently not carried out.
