The municipal group of CHEGA in the Funchal Municipal Assembly has demanded urgent intervention from the Municipal Chamber to address the state of degradation of Caminho do Desterro, in the parish of Monte.
The party alleges that the poor condition of the pavement, described as "full of holes," hinders access for ambulances and private vehicles, with some emergency vehicles refusing to use the road. According to CHEGA, the situation was reported to the local authority in April, but no practical measures have been taken to date.
The municipal group leader, Carmo Gomes, criticized the inaction of the council executive, stating that the situation particularly affects the elderly and bedridden who require medical assistance. Municipal deputy Daniel Alves blamed the PSD/CDS executive, emphasizing that repaving is an exclusive responsibility of the Municipal Chamber.
