Francisco Gomes, a Member of Parliament for the Chega party in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, is the subject of a complaint filed with the Entity for Political Accounts and Financing.
The anonymous complaint, reported by SIC, raises suspicions that the parliamentarian may have improperly received funds from the Territorial Continuity Mechanism, despite his travel costs allegedly being covered by the Assembly of the Republic.
Potential crimes involved could include illicit enrichment, tax evasion, and money laundering. Diário Notícias attempted to contact Francisco Gomes for a reaction to the allegations but has not yet received a response.
