CHEGA party MP Francisco Gomes stated that the political left currently represents the main convergence point for three ideological currents he considers the greatest threats to Western society and culture: socialism, Islamism, and globalism.
According to the parliamentarian, these forces seek to weaken fundamental pillars of European civilization, such as the family, the protection of human life, responsible governance, merit, respect for public resources, and population security. Gomes detailed that socialism has become a model of state capture, based on networks of favoritism and corruption, while Islamism is seen as incompatible with Western principles. The globalist agenda, in turn, is criticized for weakening national identities and promoting ideological models that break with the Western social and cultural order.
