The Regional Section of Madeira of the Court of Auditors has identified flaws in a public tender by the Regional Civil Protection Service for the acquisition of a ladder truck for the Volunteer Firefighters of Porto Santo.
The Court found that the technical specifications in the tender documents unduly restricted competition, leading to the award of the used vehicle to the company Extincêndios for the base price of €220,000. The purchase was illegally approved and authorized by the then Regional Secretary of Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Freitas.
