Chega council members in Ribeira Brava, Renata Rocha and Roberto Gonçalves, have criticized the municipal executive's management of the Rua dos Dragoeiros regeneration project. The party states that the work, which began months ago, remains unfinished and has already caused losses to local residents and businesses.
Also under scrutiny is a proposal for tax benefits presented at the last Municipal Assembly to compensate affected property owners. Initially presented as an IMI exemption, the measure also includes IMT exemption, which has raised questions for Chega council members regarding the criteria and beneficiaries.
The party recalled its initial warnings about the project's lack of planning and its impact on commerce and traffic. They also criticized the late decision to change the paving solution, suggesting the original plan might have prevented months of disruption. Chega reaffirmed its commitment to overseeing the municipal executive's actions, demanding greater transparency and accountability.
