Chega proposes EU classify PCC as terrorist organization

The Chega parliamentary group in the Assembly of the Republic has presented a draft resolution recommending that the Portuguese government undertake diplomatic and political efforts with European institutions to have the First Capital Command (PCC) included on the European Union's list of terrorist organizations.

This initiative is supported by MP Francisco Gomes, who justifies the proposal by citing the growth of the criminal organization's activity in European territory, including Portugal, arguing that the state must strengthen legal instruments to combat what he classifies as a threat to national security.

According to the draft, recognizing the PCC as a terrorist organization would enhance international cooperation, facilitate asset freezes, and intensify the fight against the organization's financing, providing Portuguese authorities with more effective legal mechanisms.
