The CHEGA parliamentary group in the Assembly of the Republic has questioned the Minister of Infrastructure, Mobility and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, regarding the delay in the full implementation of the new territorial continuity model applicable to the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores. The party deems the delay "incomprehensible" and detrimental to island residents.
CHEGA recalls that the Assembly of the Republic approved the new model over three months ago, aiming to make the principle of territorial continuity fairer and more effective. Despite the parliamentary process being concluded and the solution promulgated, the regime remains not fully operational. MP Francisco Gomes highlighted that air mobility is a structural necessity for island residents, not a luxury.
The party seeks to know which administrative, regulatory, or technical procedures are pending, the responsible entities, and the timeline for completion. They demand a concrete date for the model's full operationalization and inquire about any external pressures to postpone or impede its implementation.
