CHEGA warns of "huge problem of uncontrolled immigration" in Portugal

CHEGA MP Francisco Gomes stated that Portugal faces a "huge problem of uncontrolled immigration," exacerbated by the large-scale entry of Muslims.

Gomes deems Islam "profoundly and widely incompatible" with Western values and Portuguese society, warning of the challenges posed by religious radicalization promoted by Islamic communities that, in his view, aim to impose their beliefs rather than integrate.

The parliamentarian also expressed concern over the Madeira Islamic Center's projects, advocating for public scrutiny and opposition, viewing the organization as a threat of "harm and obscurantism" to the island.
