The Civil Protection of the Autonomous Region of Madeira has made a global investment of approximately 250,000 euros in the acquisition of new equipment for its fire departments.
The funds, exclusively from the Regional Budget, enabled the delivery of emergency lifting kits for rescue, salvage, and extrication operations, as well as Hazmat gas detectors. These pieces of equipment were acquired in a standardized manner, ensuring that all firefighters in the region have materials with similar characteristics.
The Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection highlighted that this standardization ensures equal training for everyone and that, in joint intervention situations, firefighters will know how to use the equipment. Some of the acquired material will replace obsolete equipment, thereby updating the available resources for rescue operations on the island.
