Born in Funchal, she studied law in Lisbon before returning to Madeira after the 25th of April. She embraced hospital administration, a field that captivated her with its problem-solving aspects.
She was involved in reorganizing Madeira's health sector in the 1970s, unifying existing hospitals. Later, she sought new challenges at Grupo Savoy in 1986.
