Independent councilor in the Funchal Municipal Chamber (CMF), Luís Filipe Santos, will bring the degraded state of several bus stops in the municipality to the next council meeting.
Santos highlights the lack of maintenance, cleaning, and usability, citing examples on Rua Artur de Sousa Pinga and Estrada Monumental, where he identifies "stops with accumulated dirt, degraded structures, and an appearance of abandonment." The councilor also notes that some stops are occupied by homeless individuals, advocating for an "articulated and humane social response."
The issue extends to other parishes, including São Gonçalo, Imaculado Coração de Maria, Santo António, São Martinho, and Santa Maria Maior. Concerns also include the lack of protection from weather conditions, leaving many users exposed to rain. At the upcoming meeting, Santos plans to question the municipal executive about the maintenance, cleaning, and requalification plan, calling for a needs assessment and a regular intervention program.
