The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) Parliamentary Group has reported being denied access to the basement of Dr. João de Almada Hospital, where the Regional Government recently transferred patients following clinical discharge. The JPP intended to inspect the safety, dignity, and quality of care conditions, as well as gather information on the service's operation.
The visit request, sent on July 2nd, received a refusal on July 24th, based on the argument that parliamentary bodies lack the authority to demand institutional visits to Regional Administration services. The JPP deems this decision an "overreach of the law" and an attempt to hinder democratic scrutiny, demanding its immediate reversal.
