The Development Societies have been awarded the international environmental prize 'Green Key' for the first time. The distinction was given to the Machico Forum and the Porto Santo Congress Centre.
Élia Ribeiro, president of the Development Societies' Board of Directors, described the award as "a very important recognition of the work being carried out by the Development Societies' teams in an increasingly strategic area for managing our ventures." She also highlighted that these venues "already play an active role in promoting good environmental, social, and cultural practices."
The 'Green Key' certification, promoted in Portugal by the Blue Flag Association of Environment and Education (ABAAE), recognizes establishments with sustainable practices, including environmental management, social responsibility, and energy efficiency. This award reinforces the Development Societies' commitment to sustainability and the UN's 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals.
