DIÁRIO, founded in 1876, celebrated 150 years of activity, highlighting its role not only in reporting Madeira's history but also in creating opportunities and providing visibility for local talents.
Ricardo Miguel Oliveira, the newspaper's general and editorial director, emphasized during his speech at Mesclarte’26 the DIÁRIO's adaptability to technological changes and new information consumption habits. He stressed that the newspaper sees itself as a brand that helps build the stage where the island's story unfolds, valuing the contributions of entrepreneurs, researchers, artists, athletes, and associations.
Projects such as Ponto e Vírgula, Geração do Futuro, and the 500 Largest Companies initiative were cited as examples of this mission. Oliveira also addressed digital transformation and artificial intelligence, underscoring that while these tools offer new possibilities, journalistic rigor, fact-checking, and editorial responsibility remain essential. The aim is to continue informing with accuracy, scrutinizing power, and promoting Madeira and its talents.
