Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital suspends emergency room visits due to high demand

Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital has temporarily suspended emergency room visits due to a high number of patients, aiming to ensure safety and care flow.

Visits to patients admitted to the Emergency Department of Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital have been temporarily suspended. The measure, communicated by SESARAM, aims to ensure the management of patient flow and clinical activity, as well as user safety and necessary conditions for care provision.

Currently, 51 patients are awaiting an available bed in their respective specialties, in addition to those continuously arriving at the Emergency Department. The suspension generally covers patients in the waiting area, but SESARAM assures that situations of greater vulnerability are safeguarded, with individual assessments.

The Family Support Office remains the primary contact for information on patient conditions, which can be provided in person or by phone, upon identity and kinship verification, safeguarding data privacy. Visiting hours will resume once conditions permit.
