Emanuel Câmara, PS-M deputy in the Portuguese Parliament, said the national government has made "zero commitments" to Madeira. He made the remarks during the general debate on the 2027 State Budget proposal, addressing Prime Minister Luís Montenegro.
According to the deputy, the region has been allocated no funds under the PTRR programme, no investments promised in the 2026 budget have been carried out, and Madeira will receive no cohesion funds next year. He also pointed to the absence of funding for half of the new cost of the Central and University Hospital of Madeira, and to a lack of solutions for air and sea mobility.
Câmara also criticised the PSD-M deputies, whom he said were silent during the debate, and accused the government of using the same budget figures differently in Lisbon and Madeira.
