Madeira's regional government president, Miguel Albuquerque, attended the ceremony handing 15 homes in the Cedros IV building to 15 families in Funchal. The regional government said the project was funded with €3.5 million from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
The building, on Rua da Quinta dos Cedros, is in an area that Albuquerque described as well served. He also pointed to a planned new access road linking Quinta dos Cedros to Levada do Cavalo, near the petrol station, which will allow public transport service.
Albuquerque said housing is a priority for his government and that the families had been living in very precarious conditions. He also announced the continuation of affordable rental schemes and roughly €3 million in road works in the Madalena and Caminho de Santo António area, with a tender to be launched soon and work expected to start early next year.
