A fire that ignited in a street behind the Mercado dos Lavradores, near the Talho O Caçador butcher shop, appears to be under control.
Local residents and passersby expressed concern about the incident. However, at the scene, no flames or smoke were visible.
Firefighters are continuing to spray water on the affected building and surrounding areas. While damage is evident, the integrity of an old block in Funchal's Old Town no longer seems to be threatened.
