Cristiano Abreu, a member of the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters, experienced a poignant moment during a complex rescue operation. While engaged in a mission lasting approximately 20 hours on the Pico Furão trail, in Fajã dos Cortes, Curral das Freiras, he received the news that he had become a father for the first time.
His daughter was born during the time the firefighter was actively involved in rescuing a Kazakh tourist. The rescue team, comprising dozens of professionals and working through the night, marked the occasion by presenting a teddy bear for the newborn, adding a touch of emotion and joy to the demanding operation.
