The Funchal Municipal Chamber (CMF) aims to reinforce an educational policy prioritizing inclusion, participation, and opportunity creation for children and youth, extending municipal intervention "beyond school walls".
Helena Leal, the councilor for Education, highlighted at the opening of the III Funchal Education Seminar the municipality's complementary role in supporting schools and mobilizing the community. The Municipal Educational Project includes over a hundred annual initiatives in areas such as citizenship, volunteering, and personal development.
Leal also emphasized Funchal's commitment as a Child-Friendly City and an Educating City, promoting youth participation and their holistic development. The municipality supports families and schools through investments in resources, scholarships, and training.
"The school we want is the one we build every day, together," stated Helena Leal, advocating for coordinated work among schools, families, institutions, and the community. The councilor acknowledged the work of teachers and congratulated the National Association of Teachers for organizing the event.
