Nuno Maciel Highlights Importance of 'Casas do Povo' for Madeira's Social Cohesion

Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, emphasized the vital role of 'Casas do Povo' in defending social cohesion and meeting population needs.

On the National Day of 'Casas do Povo' (People's Houses), Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, underscored the importance of these institutions during the inauguration of the new governing bodies of the Calheta 'Casa do Povo'.

Maciel deemed 'Casas do Povo' fundamental in defending social cohesion and responding to the needs of the population, stating that "a strong society is built from strong communities." He advocated for the continuous enhancement of these structures, which he described as "alive and deeply rooted in our parishes and municipalities."

The official praised the Calheta 'Casa do Povo's' adaptability to new realities, strengthening areas such as training, qualification, employability, culture, and social support. "Madeira needs strong institutions, available leaders, and participatory communities," he concluded, calling for associativism to remain an active partner in building the Region's future.
