The preliminary report from the qualification phase of the international tender for the exclusive gaming concession in Funchal has revealed two bids submitted within the deadline.
The proposals came from Sociedade Figueira Praia, S.A., based in Figueira da Foz, and ITI – Sociedade de Investimentos Turísticos na Ilha da Madeira, based in Funchal. The jury proposes ITI's qualification, deeming that it meets the minimum technical and financial capacity requirements.
ITI demonstrated compliance with technical requirements, presenting data on active gaming tables and machines between 2021 and 2025, exceeding the minimums. The company also proved the operation of hotel units with catering services and tourist entertainment activities, as well as expenses for cultural and sports events. Financially, ITI reported gross gaming revenue exceeding 7.5 million euros and documentation confirming the continuity of the concession's operation.
Sociedade Figueira Praia's bid included a generic declaration from the Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ) regarding gaming operations from 2021 to 2025 and an average gross gaming revenue above 7.5 million euros in 2023 and 2024. However, the jury identified the need for further proof of technical requirements, such as gaming operations in 2021 and 2022 under a valid legal title, ownership of catering establishments, and tourist entertainment activities. The company has been notified to provide the missing documentation within five working days.
