The early hours of Thursday morning were marked by heavy traffic on Madeira's Via Rápida, presenting challenges for drivers. Slowdowns affected several critical points along the route.
The Cancela area, where road widening works are underway, saw traffic congestion extending for approximately 4 km. In the opposite direction, the exit from the João Abel de Freitas tunnel towards Viveiros and the Santa Luzia junction also experienced considerable queues, stretching to the Santo António junction and the West exit junction, adding another 4 km of slow traffic.
These situations are expected to cause significant delays for those commuting to work, school, or other appointments.
