The INATEL Porto Santo Hotel has been awarded the Silver Level of the 'Living Night' prize, presented by the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA).
The distinction, under the LIFE Natura@night and LIFE Freiras projects, recognizes the hotel's good lighting practices, which contribute to reducing light pollution and conserving biodiversity.
Having previously achieved the Bronze level, this new award highlights the hotel's continuous improvement in optimizing lighting management and adopting efficient solutions, without compromising guest comfort and safety. Reducing light pollution is crucial for protecting species such as seabirds, bats, and insects, particularly during the fledging period of Cory's shearwater chicks in Madeira, in October and November.
