Iniciativa Liberal advocates for permanent fuel tax reduction in Madeira

The Liberal Initiative (IL) party has called for a permanent and substantial reduction in the tax burden on fuels in Madeira. The party believes that temporary measures proposed by other political groups do not address the structural issue of high fuel prices.

According to IL deputy Gonçalo Maia Camelo, taxation significantly impacts fuel costs, negatively affecting business competitiveness and household budgets. The IL advocates for a significant and lasting tax decrease, rather than "one-off or temporary adjustments."

The party also stressed the need for greater transparency in fuel pricing and warned about potential increases in energy production costs due to fiscal changes in the State Budget for 2027. The IL insists that financial benefits should reach families and businesses, not just the state.
