The Youth of Juntos Pelo Povo (JJPP) has expressed concern over the high prices of air travel between Madeira and the mainland, which can reach 600 euros for a round trip in August.
According to JJPP, these costs represent an "insult" and a "social drama," as they equate to a gross monthly salary for many Madeiran families, hindering the travel of young people and their relatives for university enrollment and related logistics.
The organization also criticized the changes to the Territorial Continuity Mechanism (MCT), supported by the Regional Government, deeming it a "terrible example" of how the State treats autonomous regions and questioning the Madeiran executive's stance following later criticism of the Insular Student platform.
