Inflation in Madeira slowed to 4.7% in July, but prices continue to rise faster than in the rest of the country.

Madeira Inflation Slows to 4.7% in July, but Remains Above National Average

The year-on-year inflation rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at 4.7% in July 2026, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points compared to June. Despite this slowdown, the regional rate remains 1.7 percentage points above the national average, which was 3.0%.

The sectors most driving the year-on-year price increase were Transport (9.5%), followed by Restaurants and accommodation services (9.1%), and Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (4.7%). Energy products also saw a rise of 8.9%, and services increased by 7.0% compared to 2.7% for goods.

On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Madeira decreased by 0.5% in July, in line with the national trend. However, the 12-month analysis shows that accommodation and restaurant prices rose by 7.7%, transport by 5.4%, and housing by 4.0%.
