JJPP requests adjustments to new medical internship placement model

The Youth wing of Juntos Pelo Povo (JJPP) has expressed concern over the new model for choosing placements for specialized medical internship training, aligning with the National Association of Medical Students (ANEM) and the Northern Doctors' Union.

According to Nino Pereira, a JJPP leader and medical student, the previous sequential, real-time model allowed candidates to know which vacancies were available. The new asynchronous, batch-based model may require candidates to pre-order dozens or hundreds of vacancies, with rules yet to be clarified.

The JJPP questions the number of candidates per batch, the number of vacancies to be ordered, and what happens to a refused vacancy. They advocate for a transparent mechanism so that freed-up vacancies are made available to the next candidate who genuinely wants them, calling for clear publication of rules and a possible adjustment to the competition calendar by the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS).
