The Popular Youth (JP) of Madeira has presented a set of proposals aimed at six municipalities in the Region as part of the Youth Council initiative, promoted by the Association of Connected Madeiran Youth (AJMC). The organization advocates for a more active role for local authorities in youth policies.
Proposed measures include a program to support young entrepreneurs in Funchal, a municipal network for psychological prevention and support for children and youth in Santa Cruz, and the 'Roots with Future' program in Câmara de Lobos to connect young people with the historical, cultural, and economic identity of the municipality.
For Santana, JP proposes strengthening the link between vocational training, businesses, and the local council. In São Vicente, it advocates for enhancing the business park to attract companies and remote workers. In Porto Santo, proposals focus on reinforcing ferry connections, improving road networks, and creating a scholarship for young people attending vocational courses off-island.
JP Madeira president, Leandro Silva, stated that the proposals were adapted to the reality of each municipality, suggesting that local councils can implement some measures directly or promote solutions and demand responses from competent entities.
