JPP councilor in the Funchal Municipal Chamber, Fátima Aveiro, criticized the municipal management, considering the city "neglected" in various areas.
The criticisms cover urban cleaning, waste collection, green space maintenance, and sea discharges. Aveiro accused the municipal executive of "systematically shifting" responsibility for the problems, "pushing" blame onto the Regional Government or taking refuge in ongoing tenders.
JPP argues that the municipality has sufficient financial resources, particularly from tourism tax revenues, to resolve these issues, estimating that 14 million euros would be "more than enough" to solve the "serious problems of our city."
