JPP Criticizes PM for Not Mentioning Autonomous Regions; Montenegro Assures 'Working for Everyone'

The sole JPP deputy, Filipe Sousa, criticized the absence of any mention of the autonomous regions in the Prime Minister's initial address during the state of the nation debate. Sousa expressed disappointment that there was no reference to residents of Madeira and the Azores.

He questioned the postponement of the Regional Finance Law revision to December 2027, urging a commitment for a new law to be in effect by early 2028. In response, Luís Montenegro stated that his initial speech was for all Portuguese citizens, including those in the autonomous regions, and that the government is "working for everyone" and specifically on regional matters.

The Prime Minister also recalled the extraordinary transfers of over 150 million euros to Madeira and 200 million to the Azores in the last State Budget.
