Councillor Luís Filipe Santos, without portfolio in the Funchal Municipal Chamber (CMF), expressed concern regarding the intention to establish a Municipal Police force in the city.
Santos highlighted the need to clarify the future force's responsibilities, the scope of its operations, and whether a light model or a more extensive structure is planned.
A primary concern raised by the councillor involves the future of current municipal inspectors, questioning if they will automatically transition to the new structure or need to meet specific requirements. "These are issues that cannot be ignored and must be answered before any final decision is made," he stated.
